wealthy affiliate scamScam, or not a scam. That is the question. Have you noticed that anytime you go to the search engines to review a business or product, you will always find a scam review by a Wealthy Affiliate member?

Let’s put it to the test. Go to google and type in something like “Digital Altitude Review” and see what comes up. Somewhere on page 1, you will find a wealthy affiliate blog berating Digital Altitude by calling it a pyramid scheme, MLM scam, and everything under the sun.

Product Name:   Wealthy Affiliate

How can you tell if the reviews you read belong to a wealthy affiliate member? In the google search, you will generally find a review that starts like this: “Is xxxx a Scam”? This is the fist sign that the review will be from a WA member.  Also if you scroll all the way down to the bottom of their scamy review page, you will find a recommendation to their #1 way to make money online. So let’s take a look at what the fuss is all about.

Wealthy Affiliate Free Membership

First of all, I am still a free member of wealthy affiliate so I’m giving you my personal experience with this company. What you get as a free member is 2 free websites. There are a couple of videos that walk you through setting up your wordpress website.

After that, you are pretty much on your own to promote it, so I found the free membership absolutely worthless. Anytime I tried to watch a video to teach me how to get traffic to my shiny new website, I was slapped with this nonsense:

wealthy affiliate premium

Prompting me to upgrade to premium kept happening over and over again. I tried watching the following videos and got the same pop-up above:

  • How to Get Your Website Indexed
  • An Intro to PPC
  • Keyword, Niche and Market Research
  • Everything WordPress
  • Authoring & Writing Content
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Social Engagement & Marketing
  • Website Development & Programming
  • Local Marketing
  • Video & Email Marketing
  • Pay Per Click Marketing

Additional Limitations

And the list goes on. At this point, my frustration was mounting so I thought I would go into the chat room to see if there was something I was missing. I find out that my chat privileges had expired so this was a nasty little surprise.

Ok. Moving on. I thought I would try to make a simple blog post and see what happens.

wealthy affiliate blog

See what I mean? So what the heck is left for a free member at wealthy affiliate? Not a whole lot that’s worth anything. The platform is very busy and cluttered, and the number one complaint new people have is that they are overwhelmed by the flurry of activity they call “community”.

My Recommendations

One last thing I found quite strange is that there were never any bad reviews about wealthy affiliate. They ain’t having none of that foolishness! If I didn’t own my domain and website, there’s no way I would have been able to voice any of my concerns about this program.

If you are brand, spanking, new to internet marketing, then sure, go ahead and sign up for the free membership at wealthy affiliate. There will be 2 videos that you are actually allowed to watch that will walk you through setting up your wordpress website.

Then head on over to Affilorama to get a ton of free affiliate marketing training. The value you get for free is 120+ training videos that are leaps and bounds above wealthy affiliate’s free membership. But don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself.
