When I started my blog, I had no idea what I was doing. I just sat down and started typing. Sometimes, you can’t have all the answers before you get started. The most important thing is to just get started. So here I am.
There are so many reasons why you should start a blog. For me, I wanted to share my experience of trying to make extra money. Of course, I can go out and get a second job but that’s just crazy talk. I think it’s a good idea to document what works and what hasn’t worked, so other people can learn from my pitfalls.
Step 1: Monetize Your Blog
From all the information I’ve gathered, making money with a blog deals with monetizing the blog some how. Most bloggers use Google Adsense. Years ago, my Adsense account was blocked because I didn’t know what I was doing. I unknowingly broke one, or many of Google’s rules. Since they pay so little, I didn’t bother trying to reinstate my account.
You can ad advertising to your blog with ShareAholic. It’s a word press plug in that displays ads that are related to your blog post. When visitors click on the ads or make a purchase, you earn a commission. ShareAholic makes it easy for you to reach, grow, and monetize you audience, and best of all it’s free to use.
Other ways people make money with their blog is by offering products directly from their blog. You can become an affiliate of almost anything on the internet. Companies like Clickbank, JvZoo, and ShareASale offer a multitude of products you can choose from to earn commissions. Oh, and they’re also free to join.
Step 2: Get Traffic To Your Blog
Last, but certainly not least is traffic, traffic, traffic. You must get traffic to your blog in order to make money. There’s no getting around this. You have to figure out how you want to go about getting traffic. Do you want to reach out to your facebook friends, use twitter, pinterest, Instagram, or snap chat? It doesn’t matter. Just pick one and stick with it. Come up with a schedule that you can commit to keeping. Consistency is key. You’re not going to make much if you’re sending traffic to your blog, every once in a while.
As long as you provide useful and valuable content to your readers, the money will eventually come. My goal is to create content and make recommendations that will help my readers save time, money and live life on their terms.
